Blogging Task due Friday 3rd February 2017
This week we have been learning the story 'Staying Out'by Pie Corbett. Your task for this week is to write out as much of the story as you can remember. Use the story map to help you and if you cannot remember the exact words then replace them with words that still make sense.
Kev’s mum eyed us both. “Ok, but no fooling around,” she muttered, as she turned up the TV. It was Neighbours and for the next half hour total silence would be demanded. Lugging my dad’s tent between us, Kev and I sneaked out of the back door. At long last, we had permission to spend the night camping out, even if it was only at the bottom of Kev’s garden.
ReplyDeleteFour hours later, we were snuggled into our sleeping bags. Already the sun had dipped over the horizon and the shadows were growing longer. Kev turned on his torch and we stared out across the garden at the house. Each room was lit up with the lights glowing like yellow pumpkins. However, down at the end of the garden where we were, it was getting darker and darker as if we were sinking into a deep pit. Stars came out like tiny silver studs. The moon cast an eerie, silver light over the garden and it grew colder.
Kev zipped up the tent flap and we chatted for a while. I could just see my digital watch giving off a strange, green glow. It had luminous numbers which meant that you could sometimes see them in the dark. Kev had just told me a joke about a man with a dog that wore brown shoes when we first heard it. A strange scratching noise coming from just outside the tent. We froze. What on earth could it be?
Then it came again. Something or somebody was moving along the side of the tent towards the entrance. It was making a scraping noise like somebody’s last rasping breath! There was no escape. All we could do was lie there waiting. Terrified, both of us ducked down deep into our sleeping bags and waited. My heart thumped.
Cautiously Kev reached out and pulled the flap down. There was a sudden rush of cold air and we stared out. His torch flickered on. Its beam stabbed the darkness, picking out the intruder like a spotlight it was a hedgehog! Taking one look at us with its tiny, black, button it sniffed the air like a fat waddling hair brush! The next morning, Kev’s mum treated us to bacon and eggs. “Alright were you, Kevin?” she asked as she spread some butter onto our toast.
“No probs,” replied Kev as if it had been plain sailing. His mum took another look at her son and raised an eyebrow. I could see she wasn’t fooled!

ReplyDelete"OK but no fooling around" said Kev's mum as she turned up the TV as her favourite programme was on "Neighbours" was on for the next half an hour. Ken dragged the tent outside. While he was there he decided to read a story to himself, but at that very moment he froze with fear because there was a screeching and scratching noise at the flap of the tent. But before he could say anything it got closer and closer until Kev decided to open the flap. Then, there it was 'boom' it was just a hedgehog. The End.

Kev's mum stared at both of us and told us not to fool around. She turned the TV volume up to watch Neighbours for half an hour and we had to be very quiet. We lugged dad's tent and sneaked out the back door because we had permission to camp out in the garden.
ReplyDeleteFour hours later, we were snuggled in our sleeping bags. The sun slowly went down and there were long shadows. Kev turned the torchlight on and shone it at the house. The four windows were lit up like yellow pumpkins. The end of the garden got darker and darker and it was like sinking into a dark hole. The stars came out in the sky like silver studs and the moon was shining out on the houses and it was freezing cold.
Kev zipped up the flap of the tent and we were chatting and laughing at a joke about a man with a dog wearing brown shoes when they heard a scratching sound outside the tent. They froze. What on earth could it be?
The scraping noise came again. Something was moving towards the entrance of the tent. The scraping noise got louder! There was no escape. They were terrified, and they ducked down into their sleeping bags. Their hearts thumped loudly.
Kev really surpised me when he cautiously reached out and unzipped the flap of the tent. The cold air immediately rushed in and we stared out. Kev flickered on the torch and in the light the saw their intruder - a hedgehog! It looked at us with its little black button eyes and then waddled away like a fat hairbrush.
The next morning, Kev's mum made us bacon and eggs for breakfast. "Alright were you Kevin?" she asked as she buttered our toast. "No probs," replied Kev like it had been very easy. But his mum was not fooled and raised her eyebrow.

Kev zipped up the tent and told me the joke about a dog wearing brown shoes. We laughed and suddenly we heard a scratching sound. We thought what on earth it could be?
We heard it again and we couldn't escape. We were terrified. We thought it was a monster. My heart thumped.
I went out and looked around and I found hedgehog. It was getting lighter and lighter outside and we came back home and mum was making eggs and bacon. She asked if we were scare and we said "no".

4 hours later they snuggled in there sleeping when the sun was setting over the horizon. Kew turned on his troch and saw that some houses were glowing like yellow pumpkin. Stars came out like tiny silver studs, moon cast silver light over the garden and it grew colder.
Kev zipped up the tent and chatted for a while. He told a joke about a man with a dog who wore brown shoes. Suddenly! Scratching noise came from outside the tent. They were frightened and froze. What on earth could it be?
They heard the noise again. Somebody was moving along the side of the tent near the entrance. They heard scraping noise. There was no escape. All they could do was just lying there waiting. Terrified both of them ducked deep in to their sleeping bags. His heart thumped.
Kev was surprised. Cautiously, he reached out and pulled the down the flap. There was sudden rush of cold air and they stared out. His torch flickered on. He spotted it was no more of a terrified monster, but it was a hedgehog! The hedgehog looked at them with his tiny, black button eyes, he sniffed and trundled off up the garden, snorting like a fat waddling, hairbrush!
The next morning Kev’s mum treated them with bacon and eggs. At that moment she asked, “Where were you last night “while spreading butter on toast.
“No probes,’’ he replied as if it had been plain sailing. Mom looked at him with her raised eyebrow. He understood mom wasn’t fooled.
